*This was different than I thought, bis and tris were crushed going from rope into the AD. Mentally started to grind on me a bit about halfway and then settled in for the last few rounds.
*Feels pretty good to be done with the Open. This is the highest I have finished in the 5 years I have done this. Not sure if it is only because of the programming or just that I have worked really hard on all the things that used to hang me up in previous years. To be feeling this good with arguably the toughest field of competitors is a good confidence boost going into the Regional. There are quite a few people that didn't make it through the Open so I realize how fortunate I am to have this opportunity. I also realize that at 34, I will be the grand old man of the Region which won't be doing me any favors in terms of recovery. I am certain I will have an advantage mentally as I have a pretty good grasp on the preparation that will go into the next 5 weeks of training. As long as the body stays healthy, I will have as good of a chance as any and that's all you can ask for. All I care about is to be close enough to contend for a spot on Sunday. If I can wake up Sunday and control my destiny, that's all I can ask for. I have had that opportunity a few other times and let it slip through my fingers, hope to get one more crack at that chance.
